Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services offer “Your Guide to Choosing a Nursing Home”. There is also a Medicare.gov Nursing Home Compare site and a Medicare.gov, Home Health Compare.

In Minnesota there are additional resources that you can use to assist in selecting or guide for choosing a nursing home or care facility for a senior or vulnerable adult. The Minnesota Department of Health, Office of Health Facility Complaints allows you to review facilities for past inconclusive, un-substantiated and substantiated care and regulation deficiencies issues. There is also a link of the Medicare/Medicaid Surveys conducted on a regular basis of each nursing home or assisted living, or home care and also show areas where there are quality of care or issues that affect quality of daily life of residents.
