Speak up if you suspect elder abuse and call adult protection in the county you reside. Minnesota strives to ensure safe environments and services for vulnerable adults and encourages reporting of suspected maltreatment.
The Minnesota Adult Abuse Reporting Center provides a toll-free number, 844-880-1574, the general public can call to report suspected maltreatment of vulnerable adults. Mandated reporters-including law enforcement, educators, doctors, nurses, social workers and other licensed professionals-can use a web-based reporting system. Reports will be promptly submitted to the appropriate investigative agencies.
Speak Up When You See Warning Signs of Elder Abuse
- Sudden changes in behavior or finances
- Physical injuries, dehydration, or malnourishment
- Extreme withdrawal, depression, or anxiety
- Absence of basic care or necessities
- Kept away from others
- Unsanitary living conditions
- Personal items missing
