Substantiated Complaint of Financial Exploitation Against Rose of Sharon Manor
Based on a preponderance of the evidence financial exploitation did occur when the alleged perpetrator (AP) took three or four $10.00 gift cards from the resident at one time without the resident’s permission.
The resident resided at the facility for two years. The resident was alert and orientated and needed the assistance of one staff for all cares.
The resident reported to staff the $60.00 and four $10.00 gift cards were missing from the resident’s room. The facility contacted the police. Store video surveillance provided to the facility by law enforcement revealed the AP redeemed the resident’s gift cards. The police department forwarded the case for criminal charges against the AP to the county attorney and the facility terminated the AP.
