Golden Living Center Wabasso Complaint Findings for Physical Abuse
In a report concluded on April 29, 2013, the Minnesota Department of Health cites Golden Living Center Wabasso for physical abuse by staff.
It is alleged that abuse occurred when the NAR/AP hit a resident on the back of his head.
Substantiated Physical Abuse by Staff at Golden Living Center Wabasso
Based on a preponderance of evidence, abuse occurred when the AP used her open had to hit the resident’s head, resulting in a stinging sensation.
Interviews and record review established that the resident had a history of verbally making negative comments towards others.
The resident was interviewed and stated when the resident made a comment about the AP’s hair, the AP immediately and instantaneously cuffed the back of the resident’s head with and open hand, causing the resident to rock forward an inch or two in the wheelchair. The back of the resident’s head stung; the resident indicated that the AP has cuffed the resident upside the head before but this was harder and much more forceful than a light tap.
