Gil-Mor Manor Redwood Complaint Findings for Neglect Related to Medications
In a report concluded on March 10, 2014, the Minnesota Department of Health cites Gil-Mor Manor Redwood for neglect of health care – medications.
It is alleged that neglect occurred when staff failed to implement physician’s orders for insulin administration. The resident was admitted to the hospital for diabetic ketoacidosis.
Failure to Administer Insulin – Gil-Mor Manor Redwood
Based on a preponderance of evidence, the allegation of neglect is substantiated. Staff failed to clarify and transcribe admission physician orders; as a result a resident did not receive sliding scale insulin. The resident was hospitalized for mild diabetic ketoacidosis and uncontrolled diabetes mellitus.
