In a report from the Minnesota Department of Health neglect was substantiated against Augustana Mercy Care Center when the facility did not provide timely and adequate assessment, monitoring, and interventions when the resident had fevers, difficulty breathing, cough and wheezing. The facility’s staff did not notify the resident’s physician in a timely manner when s/he had a change in condition according to the facility’s policies.
Augustana Mercy Care Center Moose Lake Complaint Findings for Financial Exploitation and Medication Theft
In a report concluded on April 14, 2014, the Minnesota Department of Health cites Augustana Mercy Care Center Moose Lake for exploitation by staff. It was alleged that financial exploitation occurred when a nurse took a resident’s narcotic medication on multiple occasions for his/her personal use.
Financial exploitation was previously substantiated against the facility in an earlier report concluded on August 8, 2012 the Minnesota Department of Health cites Augustana Mercy Care Center for exploitation by staff. In that case the allegation was that there was financial exploitation based on the following: a staff member had borrowed $40.00 and a package of cigarettes from a resident and did not reimburse the resident.
