Afton Care Senior Homes Cited by MDH with Neglect in Administration of Medication

In a report concluded on June 29, 2015, the Minnesota Department of Health cites Afton Care Senior Homes in Afton Minnesota with substantiated neglect due to the administration of medication.

Based on the preponderance of evidence the MDH established that neglect of health care occurred when the client was no administered medication in a timely manner on three separate occasions to assist in alleviating the client’s symptoms of nausea and vomiting, pain and constipation, causing the client unnecessary discomfort.

In a report concluded on May 15, 2015, the Minnesota Department of Health cites Afton Care Senior Homes in Afton Minnesota with substantiated neglect due to the administration of medication and disposal as well as failure to assess a change in condition in a resident.

Based on the preponderance of evidence the MDH established that neglect of health care occurred when the client was not administered medications in a timely manner to alleviate the client’s symptoms of nausea and vomiting and constipation, causing the client unnecessary discomfort.
